Diary kept from 6 Oct. 1788-18 July 1789 and 12 Apr. 1790-2 July 1791 by Nathan Webb of Boston, Mass. The entries refer to Webb's work as an usher (teaching assistant) at the Writing School in Love Lane, a public school in the town's North End; singing as a pastime; and his involvement in the formation, meetings, and governance of the Independent Musical Club, a private music club with both male and female members founded in 1789. Additional subjects include Webb's health, including the after-effects of his smallpox inoculation in Oct. 1788, frequent visits for tea and dining, and his attendance at the New North (Fifth) Church.
